Bipartisan Gun Reform Package

On June 12th, key senators announced a new bipartisan gun reform package that includes several new measures that would be taken in order to prevent future gun violence. This package includes “red flag” laws, which allow someone to be petitioned by others to not be allowed to purchase a firearm, mental health resources, and increased background checks. This package is significantly less severe than the ones created by Democrats in the House over the past week, meaning that it is more likely to pass as it is supported by Republicans as well. While this package doesn’t have all that is currently being demanded by the public and may not be enough to implement significant change in America, Joe Biden stated that it is a step in the right direction.
