10-Year-Old Rape Victim Crosses State Lines For Abortion

Following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, and thus indirectly enact abortion bans nationwide, there have been many cases in which women have had to cross state lines in order to get an abortion. An example is a 10-year-old girl, a resident of Ohio, who was raped and impregnated. She then had to cross state lines due to Ohio’s strict abortion laws into Indiana, where a doctor gave her an abortion. Despite this being a rape case, in which the rapist was caught and confessed to the crime, this abortion is still being questioned by Republican lawmakers, some even saying that the 10-year-old should have had the child. The doctor who performed the abortion is currently being investigated as well. While this case is one of many that have happened over the last few months, it is a strong example of how restrictions on abortion are affecting women’s lives.

Georgia School District Approves Guns for Employees

After the recent mass shootings over the last few months, lawmakers have once again started looking at implementing policies that allow school employees to have firearms. This policy was passed in Georgia’s Cobb County School Board, the second largest school board in the state. This policy, however, excludes teachers and any staff that supervise classrooms as that is strongly opposed by the Superintendent. Georgia, along with Ohio and Florida, now all have policies in which it is easier for staff to carry firearms on campus. While some argue that this is for the protection of students, others see this as creating a scarier and more dangerous environment for children, as well as desensitizing them.
